The initial consultation phase of an interior design project is where much of the design work takes place. At Moderne Living, we strive to exceed our clients’ expectations with every single project. We know that the best outcomes are the result of time and effort spent on your project at the beginning, making sure that every selection you make is perfect for you and your home. Every hour we spend meeting with a client is followed by several more hours of work in our studio, following up on the concepts, pricing and logistics required for a successful project. During the consultation phase, we begin your project with the following:

Your design team from Moderne Living will meet with you for an initial interview. You’ll discuss your interior design goals, and create your list of must-have items.

You may spend time with a designer in our showroom, checking out furniture pieces in person and determining what you like.

The designer reviews the meeting notes to determine the scope of the project, and begins collecting color and material samples for use in your Design Plan.

Our design team visits your home to take photos and measurements. The detailed information they collect is used to create a high quality design plan for you.

Together, you and your designer will review what’s required to complete your project, establish a budget, and set a realistic timeframe.
Interior Design Plan:
After the consultation meetings, your designer will have a firm grasp of your needs and goals, and will focus on creating a professionally designed interior that is uniquely yours. This process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the scope of the project. Using the resource library at Moderne Living, our design team will prepare a Design Plan for your review. The Plan will specify furniture, a color scheme, and lighting, art, and accessories if appropriate. If your space is being remodeled or renovated, they’ll include sketches and samples of proposed materials.
Your professional Design Plan will be presented at a meeting with the Moderne Living design team for your review and input - we want you to love everything about your new space. The presentation includes:

Tear sheets and specifications of furniture

Fabric and finish samples

Computer-generated floor plan

An estimated budget including prices for individual items.

The opportunity to ask questions and discuss any changes with your designer.
It’s important to us here at Moderne Living that your furniture purchases fit your space and your lifestyle. We’re willing to spend the time necessary to help you choose high-quality furnishings that not only look amazing, but are comfortable and practical. Our design process starts at our very first meeting. Our designers work with you, helping you define and refine your style, so we can create an interior that expresses your personality.
Project Price Quote:
Once you’ve reviewed the Design Plan, you can discuss it with your designer, ask questions, give feedback, and refine your selections. At Moderne Living, we take a collaborative approach, and will work with you until the plan meets your approval. Your designer will then collect the color and material samples, and make notes regarding any changes. They’ll update the Design Plan and calculate your final Price Quote. You’ll receive a copy of your finalized Design Plan and Price Quote for your approval and signature. Once you’ve approved the Design Plan and provided a deposit, we’ll order furniture and materials.
Fulfillment and Installation:
At this stage, your Design Plan is final. Your designer applies your deposit and orders the furniture and other materials in the Design Plan. We’ll confirm furniture lead times and inform you of any backorders or delays. Our staff will continue to follow up with our vendors to make sure everything arrives on time.
If there is any renovation being done, we order materials and recommend or arrange the tradespeople to complete the work for you. Copies of floor plans, CAD drawings, paint colors, and materials specs are available for your contractor, installers, and tradespeople to make sure everything is installed as planned.
Moderne Living’s design staff are experienced in logistical coordination of both domestic and international shipments. They’re available every step of the way to answer questions and follow up with vendors as needed. When your furniture is ready for local delivery, our delivery staff and design team will place it according to plan. If your order is being shipped to another city, we’ll provide anything needed for the delivery team to place your furniture exactly as planned. If you have any concerns during the project, please reach out to your design team and we’ll do our best to take care of them.
Project Completion:
During the installation, your designer will be on site to supervise the process and address any issues on the spot. With your permission, we’d love to take photos of the finished project too!
