Product Description
|
A breath-taking symphony of wood and glass is Sassi, crafted no less by the Italian design studio Reflex. This stunning coffee table stars an 80mm wooden base, smoothed with rounded corners and made to glimmer with a shiny lacquered finish – or a tone of ebony. Six legs, interpreted in large crystal pebbles that echo a wide spectrum of colours, hold the bevelled clear glass. These legs, a display of Murano glassmaking skills, come in either golden amber or a milky Calcedonio finish. Bearing a unique play on textures – the grains on the wood and the smoothness of glass – Sassi is set to become a charmer in every living space.
Exquiste Murano Glass Furniture Murano's reputation as a center for glassmaking was born when the Venetian Republic, fearing fire and destruction of the city's mostly wooden buildings, ordered glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano in 1291. Murano glass is hand made by the Master. To become a Murano Master, it takes 15 to 20 years serving the longest apprenticeship of its type anywhere on the planet. If you have never seen a Master glass blower in action, then we strongly urge you to do so. They use skills handed down over 800 years to create unique items of mindblowing technical difficulty and sheer brilliance that will not devalue. Moderne Living’s Murano furniture offers no margin for error when they are being created. Then, once they have finished and have been placed in the annealing oven for 24 hours to cool from 1200 degrees Celsius to around 50 to 80 degrees, there is still a chance that each creation can suffer a catastrophic failure if the Master has not used the right techniques and manipulations when the glass piece has been blown.

Designer Information
|
Through precious lessons from the tradition of the family glassworks established in the 40s, the industrial glass, with its linear essentiality, is enriched and warmed by shapes and colours that always refer to the inexhaustible heritage of the Venetian handicraft, with intelligence and creativity, giving life to a product unique of its kind. The first that used the Murano massive glass as a base for its tables, Reflex has always been using high-quality materials, such as glass, marble, forged iron, and wood, applying new contrasts and technological processes on the cutting edge, with a craft mastery.
